Many children have to wait months or even years for the care they need and some even age out before accessing services. By providing services at younger ages, we can improve potential into adulthood. Occupational therapy offers individualized intervention to facilitate growth, healing, and improved performance capacity through meaningful activities. OT can serve this population as a consistent support by working directly with children and indirectly with parents, teachers, and caregivers. Ultimately, a growth mindset can be fostered through trauma-informed and relational care, increasing participation and optimizing skills.
