7-9 MONTHS

Cognitive: Bangs things together, looks for objects when dropped/out of sight

Communication: Makes sounds/babbles (ex. “mamama, bababa”), lifts arms to be picked up, stops momentarily when told “no”, pushes away unwanted objects

Feeding: Uses fingers to rake food, brings food to mouth, leans forward to receive food, tries to hold spoon, starts to drink from cup (spills some), munches

  • Milk/formula, small amounts of water, baby food (puree), some lumps (mashed potatoes, applesauce, oatmeal, pudding), soft, chewable, solid foods cut small (pancake, cheese)

Fine motor: Transfers toys/objects between hands

Gross motor: Gets on hands and knees, creeping, sit without support, pulls to stand, walk with furniture

Social/Emotional: Knows name, facial expressions, reacts when left/looks for loved ones when upset, shy/clingy/fearful around strangers, peek-a-boo

Visual: Tracks falling objects
